The American diabetic association adds lemon on the top of their super food list due to high fiber content and vitamin C component.Lemons are rich in Ascorbic acid. It has a variety of health benefits. Diabetics usually use a low sugar and low salt diet. Therefore lemons contain little sodium, so this fruit is considered good for flavoring in low salt foods. Citric acid is present in amount of 7.2%, which is beneficial for heart, kidneys, blood sugar and also for the detoxification of the liver. Blood sugar lowering effect due to citric acid will reduce the chances of diabetes.
